It is a famous saying that “hunger doesn’t require taste and sleep doesn’t require bed” but there are countless people in the world who desperately need a good sleep. A research indicates that trend of a sound sleep is declining in Asia. In the West, light bulbs were blamed to cause lack of sleep. Same is now happening in Asia. Are these light bulbs causing us sleeplessness? It is quite possible. Late night working is now common in Asia too; the progressive activities are now similar to West. However, one thing is for sure, Nature has designed Days to work in and Nights to sleep in. Day and Night, both have their own benefits. Day light provides us opportunity to work and Night provides us cool environment to sleep.
In current Age, lack of sleep is causing a lot of health effects. It can cause any disease from high blood pressure to obesity. A fight with sleep means a fight with your health. Lack of sleep also affects your daily work performance. If you are suffering from sleep loss then you can try some home therapies. For example, a glass of warm milk right before bed will result in a sound sleep. A massage of oil in your scalp can also ease sleep. These therapies can be useful only if you try them willingly. In addition to above therapies, you should avoid Tea. Tea can cause immediate sleep loss and a long term use of tea causes undesired effects on your sleeping habits. You should avoid tea especially before bed. Smoking is another cause of sleep loss. It is also the biggest cause of lungs cancer. Exercise before bed or eating fast food before bed can also cause sleep loss. Silence of night often stimulates the tensions in your mind so you should avoid deep thinking instead you should write all your tensions on a paper and put that paper in your pocket. This process will clean your mind and will result in a sound sleep.
Massage is also very effective for sleep loss; if you are married then your spouse can lightly massage your body. This will comfort your body muscles and will obviously send you to the sleep valley. Another solution is to stand in front of open window, bend your body and let your arms move freely. This will relax your muscles as well. Gapes before sleep indicates lack of oxygen. To over come this, try to breathe deeply for some time to provide necessary oxygen to your brain. This will also release your tension because your belly will spread and shrink within the deep breathe process casing relief from muscular tension.
Noise can also cause sleep loss. You should place your bed in a low noise area. If you cannot find such area in your house then use some soft cloth to cover you ears while sleeping. Don’t forget to switch off your cell phone before you go to bed. Night lamps should be located away from direct exposure to your eyes. Human beings tend to sleep in a cold environment so don’t warm your room too much. Try to stay within 20C to 22C to enjoy a good sleep. Modern scientific research has proved that inadequate sleep can put long term effects on your health so “Sleep well, stay well”.
