These days, working late in night is considered to be a sign of efficiency. If you are also one of those who work late night, you sure will feel that you are not as fresh as others who enjoy a good night sleep. It is said that if you dont sleep a single night, you cannot compensate it evern if you sleep the whole week next to that night.
It is impossible to deny the adverse effects of late night work on your body as well as your mind. Research studies indicate that the people who work late night tend to sleep 8 to 9 hours less than the people on regular schedule. This lack of sleep can cause mental concentration problems on long term basis. Research also indicates that those who work at night are more likely to suffer from hearth diseases and obeisity. It also effects metabolism and digestion of fat and carbohydrates. A research study by Harvard University, NCI (National Cancer Institute) indicates that the women who work in night shifts have an increased risk of development of breast cancer than those women who dont work in night shifts. However it is also said that some people who regularly work in night shift for a long period get used to their schedule and their body adopts their routine. However it is confirmed that the late night work schedule has long term adverse effects on human body muscles development and mental health.

I am a software engineer and i have to stay off the bed till late night. I was ignoring my routine till today. Now after reading your article, i think i should think again. I will sure try to change my late night routine since health is precious than money
