I cured my seizures by just incorporating beef into my diet. I was an ova-vegetarian for 4 years then became epileptic for two. They could not find a reason for it. I didn't have any family history or previous history of a seizure disorder. I also never had a head injury and they couldn't find anything via C-Scan or MRI. I tried many different medications that never helped. I read an article in a neurological magazine about a certain enzyme that the brain needs. The only way to get this enzyme (if your brain doesn't already produce it) is by eating beef. It is not exactly like the ketogentic diet due to the only change I had to make was adding beef. I have been seizure free now for over 10 years and off medication for over 9 years.

Previously the frequency of the seziures was less but now she has it even twice a day. Her MRI is normal and doctors give her epivel 250 gms to have before her periods. could you please tell me that is it epilepcy or not and if not than wat is it and whom should we consult.thanks

Although most of this article is poorly written, there is "A" cure for seizures/epilepsy with the Ketogenic diet. Most doctors chalk it up as an old treatment (right up there with blood letting) in favor of more "modern" medical options. Here's a brief summary of the more "modern" medical options:

1. first anti-seizure medication
2. second anti-seizure medication
3. more mixtures of anti-seizure medication
4. brain surgery
5. (usually as the last resort) ketogentic diet

HELLO!!! You'd think the least NON-invasive option would be first and not last.

Now I know first hand (walking through this with my own son now 2 years old) that the diet is very strict -but you know what- he's not on any medications anymore, and his seizures are dramatically dropping...we are having more seizure control on the diet than with all the medications he's been on combined!

Research "Ketogentic Diet"...Google it...

No there is no cure for it. I was born with epilepsy and had few as a child but am beginning to experience more recently. If your cousin is beginning to have recurring seizures it is probably a good idea to be put on medication to control it and neccessary to continue to take it to keep it under control.

A cousin of mine is suffering from epilepsy. He is having epileptic seizures while sleeping. I am not sure which stage it is, but it looks like his seizures are very serious. we have to take him to the hospital many times. Then the doctor recommended a medicine but he says that my cousin has to eat the medicine for life time. Why is it so? isn't there one time solution for epilepsy?
